As a Hazel Skye launch offer, we hosted a Midlands wedding photography offer, and here’s a couple who wanted just that! The lovely Matt Routen and Zoe Randall booked me to capture their beautiful day on June 18th 2016. Their wedding was to be at All Saints Church in Asfordby with the reception after at the Grange Garden Centre. I wasn’t filming at this wedding at all, so it was great to have the entire day to just take pictures for the couple. There’s plenty to share with you, so here they are!
It was an early start for everyone, with hair and makeup beginning at 9am. Cards were exchanged, hairspray was flying! With 11 bridesmaids, mother of the bride and the bride herself, there was no shortage of action! Most of the bridesmaids wore silver/grey maxi dresses, with the two youngsters in white and cream.
And now for Zoe – and the moment her father sees her in her wedding dress…
I also managed to snap some pictures when the car arrived.
The ceremony was lovely, All Saints Church was full of loved ones who were there to share the special day. The love and emotion of the day was tangible and I absolutely love the beaming smile on Matt’s face as he sees Zoe for the first time.
There was no official sit down meal, but of course, there were still speeches! The trio stood to tell embarrassing tales and share their love for the newlyweds.
Now, not every wedding has a twist, but we were let in on a secret before this one. You know the usual tradition of the bride throwing the bouquet? Well, usually the lady who catches it will be the next to marry. This time, the bouquet was never thrown! After an elaborate set up, there was a surprise in the day for a bridesmaid. Her boyfriend had secretly arranged to propose at the moment of the flower throw. This is definitely rare so it was great to be able to witness the genuine shock and delight! And of course… she said yes! (And was given the bouquet!)
It was a lovely day for so many reasons and everyone was having a wonderful time. During the time between ceremony and reception I got plenty of pictures of the family and guests.
There was also a quick opportunity for me to steal the couple away for a while, for those all important brand new wedding couple photos.
The reception was held at The Grange Garden Centre and the festivities continued all night long. There was the first dance, cake cutting and a lot of dancing!
Thanks to Matt and Zoe, the new Mr & Mrs Routen. It was a pleasure to photograph your wedding day and be a part of your celebrations. We all hope you enjoyed your honeymoon in Portugal Al Garve too!
